John T. Dunlop, MD

John T. Dunlop, MD, formerly served on staff at Zion Clinic, Zion, Illinois, and is elder and founding member of the Lakeland Evangelical Free Church, Gurnee, Illinois, USA.

After graduating summa cum laude from Wheaton College with a BS in Physics he proceeded to the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore where he received his MD in 1973. There he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa and the Alpha Omega Alpha honor societies. He remained in Baltimore to complete two years of Residency in Internal Medicine at the Johns Hopkins Hospital before returning to Chicago to complete a final year at Rush Presbyterian St. Luke's Hospital. There he was given the Medical Resident of the Year Award. He became board certified in Internal Medicine in 1976 and in Geriatrics in 1987.

Dr. Dunlop is a founding member of the Lakeland Evangelical Free Church in Gurnee, Illinois, where he has served as an elder since 1980. He is a regular teacher in the adult education department and focuses his teaching on the wisdom books of the Old Testament. He works to help equip people to deal with future issues of pain, suffering and death as they approach the end of life. To further equip him toward that end he is currently pursuing a Masters in Bioethics from Trinity International University. He is a member of the Christian Medical and Dental Associations and has written several articles and speaks frequently on such subjects as "Living the End of Life to the Glory of God," "Successful Aging," and "The Appropriate Use of Life Supports."

Dr. Dunlop is a native of Cleveland, Ohio. He currently lives in of Libertyville, Illinois with his wife Dorothy who holds a PhD and does Biostatistics at the Institute for Health Services and Policy Research at Northwestern University. They have two sons and one daughter-in-law.
