Dr. Kathy Schoonover-Shoffner is National Director of Nurses Christian Fellowship, a professional and ministry organization of InterVarsity Christian Fellowship USA, and Editor in Chief of the Journal of Christian Nursing, a peer-reviewed professional publication since 1984. NCF and JCN serve nursing students, nurse educators, and nurses, helping them practice from a biblically based, Christian perspective. Kathy’s research and academic interests are spiritual care and more recently, ambiguous loss following her physician husband’s severe traumatic brain injury in 2018. Kathy received her BSN from the University of Texas, Arlington, her MSN in Critical Care Nursing from Oral Roberts University, and PhD in Nursing and Communication Studies from the University of Kansas. She and her husband Richard have been married 40 years and have 3 adopted grown children.
