Dr. Brian S. Chan is an assistant professor in Media Arts and Worship at Dallas Theological Seminary and was an adjunct professor at Biola University for 17 years. He teaches a theology of beauty, creativity, story, and film as well as creative writing and visual artmaking. He was a pastor and workshop speaker in Hollywood and Burbank for 18 years. Chan is an award-winning fine artist, having exhibited at the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum and Nagasaki Prefectural Art Museum among other galleries. He authored The Purple Curtain: Living Out Beauty in Faith and Culture from a Biblical Perspective. Chan achieved a BA in psychology and BA in sociology from the University of California, Davis, a ThM in historical theology and an MA in Christian Education from Dallas Theological Seminary, and a DMin on engaging mind and culture from Biola University. He is currently doing PhD research in theology and the arts at University of Birmingham, United Kingdom.
