Center President John Kilner Represents CBHD at the White House

U.S. President George Bush invited John Kilner to join him and Secretary of Health and Human Services Tommy Thompson, Head of the Human Genome Project Francis Collins, and other national health care leaders on March 26 at the White House to meet his proposed Surgeon General, Richard Carmona, and proposed Director of the National Institutes of Health, Elias Zerhouni. It was a great opportunity for further increasing the Center’s growing influence in today’s pressing bioethical debates.

Senior Fellow Nigel Cameron Named to U.N. Cloning Treaty

Delegation Senior Fellow Nigel Cameron was named as one of two expert advisors to the U.S. Delegation to the United Nations for negotiations on an international treaty to ban human cloning.To read the U.S. Delegation’s position against all forms of cloning, see http://cloninginformation.org/info/un-us_cloning_view.htm.

Biotech Engagement Projects Begin

The Center has begun to focus strategically on addressing biotech as well as clinical issues. This month the Center is releasing its new book Cutting-Edge Bioethics: A Christian Exploration of Technologies and Trends (which you may order today using the included order form). In February, the Center co-sponsored with the Wilberforce Forum a conference addressing A Christian Vision for a Biotech Century. Biotechnological issues will also be the focus of the Center’s national conference to be held July 17-19, 2003.
